Habillage monumental pour la Journée Mondiale de l’Eau
About This Project
Description
To mark World Water Day, the firm HB & Associés chose to transform the facade of its Parisian building into a canvas for artistic and socially conscious expression, in collaboration with artist Rossella Rossi. This initiative is part of a broader effort, as the firm also hosted an exhibition by the artist within its premises, creating a dialogue between the interior and exterior. The goal is clear: to raise public awareness of a major issue—given that more than two billion people worldwide still lack access to safe drinking water—and to make architecture a vehicle for raising awareness that is accessible to all.
The installation relies on the use of Mactac WW100 polymer film, chosen for its ability to adapt to the constraints of a facade while ensuring a faithful reproduction of a dense and detailed artistic image. Combined with LF 10700 lamination, the system produces an ultra-glossy finish, enhancing the depth of blacks, the intensity of colors, and the visual impact of the large-scale artwork. This technical choice also ensures the installation’s durability against outdoor conditions, while meeting the performance and protection requirements expected for this type of application.
Beyond its aesthetic dimension, the project was conceived as an educational tool for the neighborhood. Visible from public spaces, the mural serves as an awareness-raising tool, particularly for nearby schools, by encouraging reflection on water-related issues. Through this approach, HB & Associés demonstrates how an architectural project can transcend its primary function to become a socially engaged medium, capable of reaching a wide audience and fostering lasting awareness.
