SONUS FLUCTUS
About This Project
Description
I was invited by the world-famous Berliner Philharmonie to create an abstract tape art installation to visually inaugurate a new era. The project celebrated the official presentation of their new Chief Conductor, Kirill Petrenko.
My creative focus was centered on translating two powerful elements: the dynamic energy of Kirill Petrenko and the vibrating sound waves emanating from the orchestra.
Inspired by these energetic, flowing patterns and rhythms, my team and I utilized the captivating Moiré Effect to design an abstract, cross-spatial installation which we titled SONUS FLUCTUS (Latin for “Sound Wave”).
This monumental tape art design symbolically spans the entire journey of sound and energy:
– The design covers the full window frontage on both sides of the building.
– The installation then flows seamlessly, continuing throughout the entire entrance hall by wrapping around columns and walls.
Through this work, my team and I created an immersive art experience that instantly plunges visitors into the pulsating world of Petrenko’s music upon entering the Philharmonie.
